Mostly In Your Mind

One of the first songs I ever wrote. It is a snapshot of what was happening around me one week. I started writing it after getting the news that Warren Zevon had died and that Johnny Cash was on his death bed. The last verse is about when the free, online music sharing sites were getting in trouble and so were the people that downloaded the songs. The first verse is about my Dad, but he redeemed himself by using his wisdom to help write the chorus.
LYRICS
Woke up in the morning someone knocking on my door. Telling me to leave the bed, put my feet upon the floor. Says that I do no work, and my life is just a bore. Wanting me to be a man, and do a little more.

Looking out the window with the rain a-fallin' down. When I think about you all that I can do is frown. I don't think that I can ever get you off my mind. Even though I try and try I can't leave you behind.

CHORUS
Life is just a string.
Events all in a line.
Some are good and some are bad, but thats mostly in your mind.
Mostly in your mind

Woke up in the afternoon with death upon the news. Over is the honeymoon and I feel I got the blues. Another hero has been lost, one more close behind. But I think life is going great, I hope that's what you'll find.

CHORUS

You say I am a crook, and music is what I steal. I swear I'm not a felon, I just want to get a deal. This all should be a lie, and it just can't be real. But you just want to make a dime. Well I know how you feel.

CHORUS

Woke up in the morning someone knocking on my door.
