Spencer's new CD "Much More Than Words" to be released Feb 13, 2007 - December 12, 2006

The new CD is finished and will be available March 13, 2007! You are going to love the new stuff!

Spencer in The Studio finishing his second record! - August 10, 2006

Spencer has been hard at work this summer with
Gerry Hansen of Creekside Studios recording his second CD to be called "Much More Than Words". Scheduled to be released on October 1st, this record shows how Spencer has matured as a writer and a singer since his first project "I Wonder Why".

Spencer comments, "The first record was more about my lyrics. It was recorded when I was 15 and 16 years old, so my voice was evolving and I was searching for a style that felt right. Two years later, my voice is much, much stonger and I know what I am all about on and off stage. The first record was about words. The new one is MUCH MORE THAN WORDS!"

Producer Gerry Hansen is widely recognized as one of the best drummers around. He also produced the latest releases from Shawn Mullins and Randall Bramblett (formerly with Traffic, Widespread Panic, and Sea Level). Gerry and Spencer were obviously on the same wavelength as to what this album should sound like. Spencer's fans will find "Much More Than Words" to be a bit raw and edgy where Spencer's vocals are allowed to shine through.

The CD will be released October 1st with a CD Release Party scheduled at The Castle in Dahlonega for November 4th.

LOGO CONTEST - January 6, 2006

THE SPENCER DURHAM LOGO CONTEST

We are inviting all aspiring artists to participate in a contest to develop a logo for use in promoting Spencer.

Grand Prize: $500 and VIP Treatment on an upcoming Tour Bus party.

Deadline: All submissions must be in by Friday, February 10th. Feel free to make numerous submissions per artist. The winner will be announced on Monday, February 13th by Spencer and the staff of Cavender Castle Entertainment.

Format: Submissions should be printed on paper, and on computer CD disc saved in Photoshop format. Package your submission in a sealed envelope with your name, address, email, and telephone number on the outside. You may hand in your work in person at either:
a) NGCSU Art Department. There will be a drop box outside Estelle’s office.
b) The Castle, 121 Cavender Castle Drive, Dahlonega, Ga. 678-758-4116

If you live outside of Dahlonega, you may mail your submission to The Castle. Be sure to mail your package so it arrives no later than February 10th.

Ownership: Spencer will retain ownership/copyright of the winning logo.

Objective: The winner will be a logo that will:

1) Be timeless. We want a logo that will withstand the passage of time (Examples: The Rolling Stones tongue. -or- the Grateful Dead Dancing Bears. -or- The Allman Brothers mushroom).

2) Encompasses the attributes of Spencer Durham’s live performance. You may want to come to one of Spencer’s shows to experience this first hand. Go to our Calendar page for a current list of shows. Or, call Kelly Hannah at 678-758-4116.

3) As you will see at his shows, some of the key descriptors common to his shows are:
-“High Energy Acoustic Music”
-“Youthful Exuberance”
-“Stylish”
-“Jam Band – fun, hippie kind of feel”
-“Clarity” (Spencer’s signing style is such that it is very easy to understand the lyrics for his songs. He doesn’t mumble and make himself tough to understand.)

4) The driving visuals and symbolism of the logo must be easily applied to future projects and merchandise.
For example, you might consider designing a maze around or within the text “Spencer Durham”. We could then use the maze imaging on future CD covers, or t-shirts, or stickers, or whatever. Hint: We really like the maze idea, but are not married to it yet.

5) Consider making the first name “Spencer” more dominant than his last name “Durham”. (Everyone knows him as simply “Spencer”.)

6) The logo should be equally legible small (on a letterhead) and large (on a T-Shirt).

If you have any questions please contact Kelly Hannah at 678-758-4116.

Last Night At Rafters, Alpharetta - December 28, 2005

Had a great time last night at the Songwriters In The Round show at Rafters in Alpharetta. Had the pleasure of playing with Xylah Freds and Critty Upchurch all night. This was the first time in a couple of years that I played in the round with other artists. I must admit I felt a little weird sitting back after my song and taking a break while the others did their material. I'm used to just going into another song! But it was fun to jump in and sing some impromptu harmonies and share the stage with a couple of other really talented artists.

New Years Eve! - December 22, 2005

Getting ready for the big High School New Years Eve show at Andretti Motor Sports in Alpharetta. Hard to believe I'm on the same bill as the DJ's from 95.5 The Beat! Rumor has it that one of the DJ's will be spinning records from on top of The Fur Bus which will be inside one of Andretti's huge ballrooms. Gotta check out the details at www.highschoolnewyearseve.com
